A Tour of BrugerForeningen

Drop In Room
(hyggekrog)

The Drop In Room provides a Cosy Corner for users and members to meet and relax.

Dining Table
(spisebord_og_buffet)

The other end of the bright airy room has a dining table that seats up to 16 persons for buffets and informal luncheons.

Full Equiped Kitchen
(storkkkenet)

A large kitchen is attached to the Drop In and Dining Areas with a serving window. The kitchen is fully equipted and large enough to allow up to six person to work easily. Volunteers (wives and mothers of users) help in the kitchen and I have to add that they are gracious and make you feel comfortable. If you look tired they are standing there with a chair for you. (For us Americans it was a culture shock.)

The President’s Office

Joergen’s Kjaers office has 2 desks – one for him to work and a second one that is used when he needs to work with someone and communicate.

In the bottom picture Joergen and Steen Nielsen a senior activist discuss an issue.

Note the map on the wall that is marked with all the chapters and affiliates — the New York City denotes NAMA’a home base.

The Coordinator’s Office
(eva_p_plads)

Eva Juncker BF’s Coordinator discuss a problem with a member of BF.

Resting Officers
(kattenes Pep and Little Brother)

Two important officers of BF rest in their office before getting to some pressing work.

Library

The Library is located along the long hallway with a room for students, teachers, health care workers and policy to come and study and learn about drug use. The library is equipped with cutting edge science including journals, books, reports and a special filing cabinet for all of BF’s mentions in the newspapers.

Off the hallway are the various hobby and teaching rooms.

Sewing Room
(symaskinerne)

The Sewing Room is fully equipped so that members can come and make clothes or things for their home.

Bike Room
(nyeste_mtb’er)

The Bike Room contains at least a dozen mountain bikes for outings. In the summer BF takes several trips into the country to help users get healthy.

Medical Room with Vein Chart
(sygepleje)

A small room used by medical professionals who come in and instruct users how to inject into veins properly so they will not damage them. (how humane!)

Work Out Room

The Work Out Room helps to keep members and users healthy. (Jokingly referred to as the torture room.)

Board Tennis Room

Another room contains a board tennis, darts and other relaxing things for the members to use.

Hobby Room
(hobbyvrksted)

The Hobby Room also contains a full compliment of equipment for users who have hobbies and need tools.

General Assembly Room
(foredragslokale)

Surprise Eva!
(eva_&_lene_dypper_jordbr)

Eva Juncker (Coordinator) shows Lene how to prepare one of BF’s specialities strawberries dipped in chocolate (also served during the conference — yum yum. Below BF members work in the kitchen to prepare a luncheon.

Canoe Trip

BF takes members and users on day and week long trips. These pictures are from the canoe trip they took up in the woods

Day Trips

These pictures from some of BF’s day trips. One is a picnic with everyone relaxing after a chowing down from the food prepared in the kitchen.

Below is a group of BF members kiting.
