Unifying the Treatment Community

This special pre-conference meeting is divided into two sessions – a morning and afternoon session. These sessions have been developed by the Advocacy Coalition: National Alliance of Methadone Advocates (NAMA), Advocates for Recovery through Medicine (ARM), Advocates For the Integration of Recovery and Methadone (AFIRM), Virginia Alliance of Methadone Advocates (VAMA), and Addiction Treatment Watchdog, and are designed to take the combined knowledge and experience of the advocacy community and present concepts that will assist in the understanding of medication assisted treatments like methadone and LAAM, as well as the new regulations (42 CRF Part 8) and accreditation, from both the patient’s and the staff’s perspective. Audiences for these sessions include patients, counselors, medical and administrative personnel, advocates and all others involved in the field of opioid agonist treatment.
