The next AATOD National Conference will be convening on
April 25 – 29, 2009 at the Hilton New York in New York, New York . AATOD produces national conferences on an 18-month cycle. These conferences have been convening since 1984 and provide an opportunity to interested parties to learn about the most current evidence-based practices in our field. The conferences provide different learning opportunities which include comprehensive pre-conference training sessions (pharmacotherapy training courses – management seminars – patient advocacy training), workshop topics, poster and plenary sessions in addition to policy-making forums and banquet ceremonies.


20th Annual International Harm Reduction Conference

April 20 – 23, 2009

Bangkok

  • Sessions on HIV and injecting drug use in Asia, harm reduction and human rights, and methamphetamine including presentations from the UN Special Rapporteurs on the Right to Health and on Torture.
  • Regional sessions on harm reduction in Thailand and in Asia including methamphetamine use, drug user organising, decriminalisation, and alcohol.
  • Interactive workshops on building drug user networks, implementing peer-driven interventions, tuberculosis treatment, positive deviance studies, and pleasure.
  • There will be over 60 sessions this year with something on offer for all of our delegates. Over half of these sessions will also have translation into Thai. And dont forget the conference party on Wednesday 22nd April!
  • Delegates are advised to plan to arrive in Bangkok on Sunday 19th April in order to take advantage of early check-in, satellite events and a conference opening reception.
