NAMA Recovery is saddened to report the passing of a long-standing member of our Board of Directors.

Paul Edward Bowman, Jr, 58, passed away on November 22, 2021.

Paul was born in Boston, MA and lived most of his life in Quincy, MA.

Paul served Massachusetts residents for over 25 years working for the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development on housing and homelessness. After his retirement he went on to become a Peer Recovery Coach for Massachusetts General Hospital, South End Community Health Center and finally at time of his passing, Boston Medical Center.

Paul was a lover of all animals and spent many hours at Dog Shows showing his Great Dane Natalie and driving Nellie the Clydesdale through the streets and neighborhoods of Boston- a city he loved.

During Paul’s decades of service, he became a Certified MAT Advocate (CMA) with NAMA Recovery, taught CMA classes, served as Chapter Director of Boston NAMA Recovery, served on NAMA Recovery Board of Directors, and became a Peer Recovery Coach as well as being involved in activities with addiction research, education, decreasing stigma and overdose prevention.
