Part 828.11

New York Title 17 NYCRR

  1. Length of Treatment:

    a. If a patient has been admitted for less than 3 months daily clinic visits are required unless the program is open only 6 days.

    b. More than 3 months but less than 2 years 3 visits a week are required.

    c. More then 2 years but less then 3 years 2 visits per week are required.

    d. More than 3 years 1 visit per week is required.

  2. Adherence to program regulations.

  3. Progress in maintaining a stable life style as evidenced by:

    a. Absence of alcohol or drug abuse.

    b. Regular clinic attendance.

    c. Absence of behavior problems including loitering.

    d. Absence of recent criminal activity.

    e. Employment, school attendance, or other appropriate activity.

  4. Assurance that take-home medication can be safely transported and stored by the patient for his/her use only.

Prior to granting take home privileges, the program physician shall document in the patients record that all the above criteria have been met in his or her opinion the risk of diversion or misuse is outweighed by the rehabilitative benefits to be derived and the patients demonstrated overall responsibility in the handling of methadone.

After Care and Medical Maintenance

    If you have been in treatment for 4 years, are currently on once a week for at least a year, and are employed, you may be qualified for After Care (twice a month pick up) or Medical Maintenance (twice a month going to a doctor’s office). Ask you counselor or contact the National Alliance of Methadone Advocates.
