The Nyswander -Dole AwardFondly called “The Marie” after Dr. Nyswander the Dole – Nyswander Award was first presented in 1983 to recognize extraordinary work in the field. Recipients are selected by their peers from each region in the U.S. with one international. This year’s presenter was Bruce Dole who began the ceremonies by remembering Dr. Nyswander. Particularly touching were his remarks about growing up in a family with Drs. Dole and Nyswander as parents. Recipients of a Marie are not only recognized for their contributions but the award brings with it a responsibility to methadone treatment and particularly in treating patients with dignity and respect. |
