My heart was breaking and my stomach was in knots as I watched this video... As heart-wrenching as it is we must share this wide and far to show the deadly impact of judges who are not trained in the medical treatment of addiction ordering patients off of life-saving medications.

This is just horrible. I am so amazed judges get away with this--practicing medicine without a license and not even educating themselves about what they are doing. Most seem to think they are doing everyone a BIG favor by taking away their medication and have no idea that the half life of methadone is so much longer and that we are not talking about a couple of days of "flu-like discomfort" but instead something that can kill people.

This judge is essentially practicing medicine without a license. This judge had more than enough evidence to ascertain this young mans life was stable and moving forward in a positive way. Judges on both sides of this town/county believe in methadone therapy. Methadone should be treated as any other drug that a patient needs for a disease. I have heard so many times, "they would not take a heart patients medicine away, or a diabetics medicine away". What can we do to stop judges from practicing medicine? Drugs kill, and now judges do too? Ok I won't go that far but they contribute to it by practicing medicine without a license. Something needs to be done some how some way to stop this and get a uniform way of treating methadone patients. It's too bad doctors or pharmaceutical companies don't get involved. We need an incentive to make them want to be involved.
