MedMark Treatment Centers and BAART have merged to form another MEGA chain of methadone clinics:

BAART has always had a good reputation... they were always family owned/run... but they sold to an investment company roughly a year or so back, so I don't know if their good history will continue or not. I hope it will. MedMark had a HIGH quality chain of clinics, especially when Sharon Dembinski was their corporate Officer of Quality and Clinical Services. I've hear some disheartening things at a couple of their GA clinics recently, so I'm not sure how great they are now that they don't have someone like Sharon Dembinski breathing down their necks about best practices all the time. ;-)

It just worries me that so much consolidation is going on in the clinic world. It's not going to be good for the field if we end up with a vast majority of clinics all being owned by just a hand full of companies. We'll see....

Yes, I see what you mean. It's already bad enough in states like TN where there are only one or two independently operated clinics.

We definitely don't need a situation where a couple or three big chains operate the majority of the clinics. it gives them too much power, and gives patients very little choice.
